Creating lab orders and tracking samples
Every sample moves through five timestamped stages — nothing gets lost.
Step by Step
- Create a lab order from the billing counter or Lab module.
- Mark the sample Collected when it is drawn.
- Move it through In Process → Report Ready → Delivered.
- Each stage is timestamped; the patient’s "report kab?" has an answer.
The Five Stages
Ordered → Collected → In Process → Report Ready → Delivered. Each change is time-stamped, so you can always answer "when will my report be ready?".
Good Practice
- Mark samples as collected at the moment they are drawn, not at the end of the shift.
- Check the pending-reports count at the start and end of each day.
- Lab tests can be billed together with medicines and consultations in one cart.
FAQ
- Can a lab order be created from the billing counter? Yes. Add tests to the same cart as medicines; they are split into a separate lab invoice.
- Can I see today’s orders and pending reports? Yes. The lab orders screen shows today’s orders, pending reports and revenue at the top.
