Setting up lab tests and panels
Define each test once — category, sample type, TAT, price and SAC treatment.
Step by Step
- Open Masters → Lab Tests → New.
- Set category (Hematology, Biochemistry…), sample type and TAT.
- Mark clinical (SAC 999316 exempt) or commercial (taxable 18%).
- Bundle tests into panels/packages with bundled pricing.
What to Define for Each Test
- Code, name and category (haematology, biochemistry, serology…).
- Sample type (blood, urine…) and turnaround time.
- Price and GST treatment — clinical diagnostic tests are exempt; wellness or commercial packages may be taxable at 18%.
Panels and Packages
Group tests into panels (for example a thyroid profile) with one price. If a package mixes clinical and wellness items, decide its GST treatment with your CA and keep it consistent on every bill.
Lab management is included in Clinic and Hospital plans and available as an add-on for pharmacy plans.
FAQ
- Can I change a test price later? Yes. New bills use the new price; old bills are unchanged.
- Which SAC code applies to lab tests? Clinical laboratory services are healthcare services (SAC 999316); exempt tests are reported as exempt in GSTR-1.
