Admitting an inpatient and assigning a bed
Admission creates the running IPD bill and reserves a bed on the board.
Step by Step
- Open Hospital → Admissions → New Admission.
- Select the patient (UHID) and admission type.
- Assign ward/room/bed from the live bed board.
- The running charge sheet opens — room charges start posting immediately.
Before You Admit
- Register or find the patient (UHID).
- Note the admitting doctor, room category and, for insured patients, the TPA and policy details.
- Check the bed board for a free bed in the right category.
What Happens Next
The admission opens a running bill. Room charges start from the admission date, and nursing, doctor visits, procedures, pharmacy issues and lab tests are posted to the same bill during the stay. Moving a patient to another bed (for example ICU to ward) changes the room rate from that day.
IPD admissions are part of the Hospital plan.
FAQ
- How is room-rent GST worked out? Day by day: ICU is exempt, rooms up to ₹5,000 a day are exempt, and rooms above ₹5,000 a day attract 5% on the full amount.
- Can the family see the running bill? Yes. Print or show the running total at any time during the stay.
