Billing loose tablets and half-strips
Loose billing computes tablet price = strip MRP ÷ pack size and tracks fractional stock accurately.
Step by Step
- Add the item to the cart, then switch the line to Loose mode.
- Enter the number of tablets — the unit price calculates automatically.
- Confirm the rounding shown on screen.
- The invoice prints "item — N tabs (from strip)" and stock decrements fractionally.
The Formula
Tablet price = strip MRP ÷ tablets in the strip. Four tablets from a ₹30 strip of 15 cost ₹8.00. The software works this out from the pack size in the item master.
Good to Know
- Stock reduces in fractions of a strip, from the batch that was billed.
- The price per tablet can never go above the proportionate MRP.
- Set one rounding rule (for example nearest 50 paise) so every cashier charges the same.
- When counting stock, count open strips in tablets — the system shows the matching fraction.
FAQ
- Can I charge extra for breaking a strip? No. The per-tablet price cannot exceed the strip MRP divided by pack size.
- What if the pack size is wrong? Correct it in the item master; loose prices for new bills use the corrected pack size.
