How to bill a registered business (B2B with GSTIN)
B2B invoices need the buyer GSTIN and flow into the b2b sheet of your GSTR-1 export.
Step by Step
- In the sale screen, toggle B2C → B2B.
- Enter or select the buyer; GSTIN is format-validated.
- Bill as usual — tax shows as CGST/SGST or IGST per the buyer state.
- The invoice lands in the b2b sheet of the GSTR-1 export automatically.
When to Use B2B
Use B2B when the buyer is a GST-registered business — a clinic, hospital, nursing home or another pharmacy — and wants to claim input tax credit. The bill must carry their GSTIN.
Good to Know
- The buyer’s GSTIN is checked for the correct format before saving.
- The first two digits of the GSTIN are the state code: same state → CGST + SGST; another state → IGST.
- B2B bills go into the b2b sheet of your GSTR-1 export automatically, so the buyer can see them in their GSTR-2B.
FAQ
- What if I forgot to switch to B2B? Return the bill with a credit note and re-bill it as B2B, so the GSTIN is on the invoice in GSTR-1.
- Do B2B bills affect the HSN summary? Yes. Since 2025 the GSTR-1 HSN summary has separate B2B and B2C tabs; B2B bills land in the B2B tab.
