Setting up encrypted cloud backups
AES-256-GCM backups encrypted on your machine before upload. Optional and scheduled.
Step by Step
- Go to Settings → Backup.
- Create a backup password (used for scrypt key derivation — store it safely).
- Choose the schedule: hourly, daily or weekly.
- Watch the Last Backup status; restore via drag-and-drop of any .pharmabill archive.
How It Protects You
Backups are encrypted on your computer before they are uploaded, using a password only you know. Even the backup server cannot read them. If the shop PC is stolen or the disk fails, you can restore everything on a new PC.
Good Practice
- Choose a strong backup password and write it down somewhere safe — it cannot be recovered if lost.
- Check the "last backup" time once a week.
- Also keep a local export on a USB drive once a month.
Backup frequency depends on your plan: daily (7 copies) on Essential; hourly (30 restore points) on Pro, Clinic and Hospital; hourly in the first year of Lifetime, then with the optional Care plan.
FAQ
- What if I forget the backup password? The backups cannot be opened without it — that is what keeps them private. Set a new password and take a fresh backup.
- Does backup need the internet all the time? No. Backups run when the PC is online; billing never waits for them.
